The New Patriotic Party (NPP) kicked off its presidential nomination process yesterday, with four flagbearer aspirants wasting no time in picking up their nomination forms. The candidates who took the first step towards securing the party’s presidential ticket are Mr. Boakye Agyako, Mr. Kwabena Agyepong, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, and Mr. Francis Addai-Nimoh.

The Director of Elections for the NPP, Evans Nimako, confirmed the receipt of the nomination forms from the aspiring candidates. This development signals the beginning of what is expected to be a heated race within the party.

The NPP had officially opened nominations for its presidential primaries on Friday, May 26, following the approval of the timelines by the National Executive Committee and National Council in early April. The nomination period will run until June 24, giving other potential candidates ample time to join the race.

To participate in the primary election, flagbearer aspirants are required to pay a non-refundable nomination fee of GH¢50,000. The nomination forms can be obtained from the Office of the General Secretary at the Party Headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra, during weekdays from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The NPP aims to conduct a fair, transparent, and peaceful presidential primary election. The party is calling on all stakeholders to contribute to the process, ensuring a successful outcome.

The next major milestones in the NPP’s presidential primaries will be the Special Electoral College Elections, scheduled for August 26, 2023, and the National Congress, which will take place on November 4, 2023.

As the NPP’s internal race intensifies, political observers and party members eagerly await further developments and announcements from the candidates vying for the coveted position of the party’s presidential flagbearer.

Stay tuned for more updates on the NPP presidential primaries as the campaign season gains momentum.
