Speaking to the EveningMailGh.com, the Eastern Regional NPP scribe stated that the insult being rain on men by Dr. Bissiw does not help in the Gender parity struggle. Alluding to alleged insult on the President by the NDC Women Organiser, the NPP secretary stated that some Ghanaian women such as Mrs. Mary Grant, Ms. Anim Addo, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings among others who started championing women activism did not make the struggle look like hatred for men.

In contemporary times, Mr. Konadu Addo stated that young women activists such as Ms. Gifty Ohene Konadu, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Ms. Joyce Opoku Boateng among others continue to give the needed respect to men despite their ‘fight’ for gender parity. He added that the insulting posture taken by Dr. Bissiw is ‘detrimental to the course of women’s quest for women empowerment and gender equality.”

Hannah Bissiw on President Akufo-Addo

National Women’s Organizer of the NDC, Dr Hannah Louisa Bissiw has stated categorically that, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has drastically embarrassed Ghanaian women globally with the comments he made during the ‘Women Deliver Conference’ in Canada.

She noted that president Akufo-Addo’s statement on Ghanaian women having done a little to deserve national decision-making place is non-factual and a huge disgrace to women who have attained higher heights in life.

Addressing the media in a press conference to combat what President Akufo-Addo said in Canada, she averred that the president could have used such an opportunity to showcase Ghanaian women’s unique, social, cultural corporate and political leadership skills to the world instead of spewing insults and abusing women verbally on such a staunch platform.

Dr Bissiw noted that, a portion of Akufo-Addo’s statement in Canada was wrongly spelt out, stating that, the president exhibited total ignorance during the conference.

She also said, “our president’s talk comments have done to the old-age struggle for female empowerment in Ghana. Elsewhere, such comments from president Akufo-Addo could kill the spirit and soul of gender empowerment activism”.

Jeff Konadu’s Response

But according to Mr. Jeff Konadu Dr. Bissiw’s posture on the matter does not help the course of women and pleaded with her to follow the steps of ‘great’ women who led the women struggle in the past.

Call to Order

He also called on women groups to call Dr. Bissiw to order and also called on her to render an apology to the president.

Mr. Konadu also urged Dr. Bissiw to take up positive course for women and champion it rather than ‘insulting’ men.
