Inspired Alswel Foundation, a non-governmental and humanitarian-based organisation, has donated school uniforms, school bags, sneakers, and exercise books to pupils in Nkwantapong D/A Primary school in the Bosome FrehoDistrict of the Ashanti region.
The donation, which was done in collaboration with LaBellaFoundation, happened when a teacher of the school posted videos of some pupils wearing tattered uniforms, and walking barefooted among other unhealthy academic living.
Speaking during the donation exercise, the Founder of Inspired Alswel Foundation, Alswel Annan, bemoaned that it was a heart-wrenching sight and highlighted the challenging circumstances that these pupils found themselves in when watching the videos on social media.
He noted that the kind gesture will help make academic life more meaningful and dignifying for the pupils.
Unfortunate
He, therefore, indicated that the unfortunate situation prompted the Foundation to take action and offer assistance to the school. After all, he stressed that the goal of the foundation is to bring hope and happiness to these innocent children and assuage some of their sufferings.
“We wiped away their tears, addressed some of their frustrations and solved the dilemma of whether they should attend school without proper uniform and learning materials,” he stated.
A class six teacher, Mr Anning Isaac, who posted the videos on social media, also lamented that most of the students come to school on empty stomach.
He noted that because of that concentration in classes is very low and there was a need for both Ministry of Education and the Gender and Children Ministry to add the school to the school feeding programme.
Appreciation
Mr Anning thanked the foundation for the donation, saying “it will go a long way to encourage the pupils to come to school since most of the pupils lack educational materials”.
The Founder of Inspired Alswel Foundation added that his outfit had the opportunity to identify the challenges faced by these pupils. He was shocked to find out that the classrooms were more like a chicken coop, where pupils had no desks, and no reading materials, among others.
For her part, the Founder of LaBelle Foundation, IssobelleMandy Wilson, said that as part of activities making their 5th anniversary, the foundation decided to partner with the Inspired Alswel Foundation to reach out to school children in rural areas.
