The National Women Organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party, Kate Gyamfua, has called on members of the party to get involved in securing a resounding second-term victory for the party in the upcoming general election.
According to Ms Gyamfua, the gained the country has made in the last three and half years cannot be derailed by changing the NPP, hence the need for every member of the party to be a part of the 2020 campaign.
Speaking at Koforidua on Monday, during the inauguration of the party’s Eastern Regional campaign team, the NPP Women Organiser stated that it is the responsibility of all members of the party to ensure that the party retains power. She admonished them not leave the onus of soliciting for votes only on members of the campaign team.
“As the popular adage says, ‘one tree does not make a forest’. I would entreat every party sympathizer to join forces with the various committees being inaugurated in all our 16 regions of the country to ensure the victory of our party in the upcoming general elections,” Ms Gyamfua said.
Honesty
Speaking to the Daily Statesman after the inauguration, Ms Gyamfua stated that the NPP government has done enough to prove that it has the interest of Ghanaians at heart and will not let the country down.
She stated that the many successes chalked by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration, which are translating into the lives of the people, are the testimonies of the NPP’s commitment to the wellbeing of the citizenry.
“We do not lie to power. We promise and we deliver. Go round the country, you will see how we are transforming this country. Akufo-Addo had a plan and has implemented that plan so well,” she said.
She added: “From first year, we started building the human capacity of the country by implementing the Free SHS, restoring teacher and nursing trainees’ allowances, among others. In our second and third year, we focused on other life-changing programmes such as the Planting for Food and Jobs, One District One Factory, One village One Dam, among others, and in our fourth year, we are focusing on infrastructural transformation. I hope you have heard of the ‘Year of Roads’. That is how proper governance is structured and well planned.”
