Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III, Okuapehene

Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III has been gazetted as the paramount chief of the Okuapeman Traditional Area in accordance with Section 59 of the Chieftaincy Act 2008 (Act 759). This accords him the right to perform statutory functions of a chief, in addition to his traditional functions, pursuant to Section 57(5) of Act 759.

A certified true copy of the gazette was signed by the Registrar of the National House of Chiefs (NHC), Baafi Nsiah, on Friday October 7, 2022, confirming Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo as the legitimate overlord of the traditional area.

The gazette follows an affirmation of Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo’s enstoolment by the Supreme Court after seven years of a legal battle.

The news of the gazette was met with wild jubilation across various communities within the traditional area.

Call for peace

A group calling itself Akuapem Youth for Development (AYD) in Akropong expressed their happiness over the news. Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, leader of the group, A.S Nana Addo-Aikins Jr., noted that the development is one of the best news received in the area for the past seven years.

The group called on the various factions to let sleeping dogs lie and work in the interest of the traditional area.

“A call for peace is paramount since it is clear beyond any doubt considering the evidence and ruling by the RHC and NHC that there is a legitimate King sitting on his throne – His Royal Majesty Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III, Okuapehene”, he stressed.
