GhanaNewsPage.Com has reported that the Management of Multimedia Group Limited, has suspended with immediate effect, one of the News Editors of Adom FM over the Minister-intern saga.
Samuel Nii Narku Dowuona, the afternoon shift news editor of Adom FM, a portfolio under one of Ghana’s biggest media brands has been suspended for one month for breaching ethics of the profession.
GhanaNewsPage.Com gathered from impeccable sources within the media organisation which is headquartered in Kokomlemle, Accra that Nii Narku was suspended after he failed to provide satisfactory answers to a query from the Human Resource Department asking why he should not be suspended for driving the name of the company into the mud.
The Adom brand of the company made the headlines a fortnight ago after it put out a recording of an interaction between Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Dapaah and an intern of the organisation.
The recording was followed by a write up purportedly from the female intern, Miss Rahinatu Abdul Bach, lamenting over how the Minister made her feel bad after she rejected an interview with her.
Cecilia Dapaah, the Sanitation Minister became the subject of public ridicule after a recording of the interview and the write up were published.
After a series of back and forth, particularly involving the editor and some staff of the station particularly on social media, the Minister decided to drag the station and the editor to the National Media Commission (NMC) for secretly recording her and making her a subject of public ridicule.
The News Editor, Editor of the Adom cluster, A.C Ohene and the intern proceeded to the office of the Minister to render an unqualified apology to her.
The apology notwithstanding, Multimedia Group decided to launch an investigation into the matter.
This led to a query being issued to Samuel Nii Narku Dowuona. He was subsequently suspended for a month.
