Tangoba Abayage, a former Upper East Regional Minister, has extended a rather sarcastic invitation to Sampson Tangombu Chiragia, the Member of Parliament for Navrongo Central, calling him to the “table of losers.” This comes after Chiragia was defeated by Simon Akibange Aworigo in the NDC Primaries, held on May 13.

Despite having a good personal relationship, Abayage and Chiragia have never missed an opportunity to take potshots at each other on political and electoral matters. Chiragia, for instance, reportedly told journalists during the NDC parliamentary primaries that he was determined to defeat his opponents in the same way he had defeated Abayage.

However, Chiragia’s hopes of staying long in parliament were cut short after he lost in the NDC parliamentary primaries. He secured 447 votes, while Simon Akibange Aworigo emerged as the winner with 475 votes.

Reacting to Chiragia’s defeat, Abayage insinuated that his arrogance and boastfulness had contributed to his downfall. In a social media post, she said she had kept her cool during the voting process, despite Chiragia’s reference to her during a post-vote interview. Abayage added that Chiragia’s “unfortunate” remarks about her suggested he was too arrogant for his own good.
