Perpetual Ekua Lomokie has formally declared her intention to contest for the position of National Women’s Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), promising to mobilise and empower women as part of efforts to return the party to power in 2028.
In a declaration dated May 22, 2025, Ms Lomokie said women had played a significant role in Ghana’s development and contributed immensely to the strength and resilience of the NPP.
She said her decision to contest was inspired by the legacy of women who had demonstrated bold leadership, wisdom and selfless service within the party.
“With a deep sense of humility and unwavering belief in our collective strength, I declare my intention to contest for the position of National Women’s Organiser of the New Patriotic Party,” she stated.
Opportunities for women
Ms Lomokie said her vision was to create opportunities for women at all levels of the NPP to thrive, contribute meaningfully and rise to leadership positions.
She pledged to listen, learn and lead with compassion to ensure that the needs, ideas and concerns of women influenced the party’s future direction.
According to her, the NPP’s women must not be treated merely as a vulnerable group requiring management but recognised as a powerful political force capable of mobilisation.
“The women of the NPP are not a vulnerable group to be managed; we are a powerful force to be mobilised,” she said.
Focus on 2028
Ms Lomokie expressed confidence that a united, properly equipped and adequately resourced women’s wing could become a major force behind the NPP’s return to government in the 2028 general election.
She said the party needed to rebuild trust, reignite passion among its members and reposition the women’s wing as a central pillar of its renewal.
“When we stand together, equipped and resourced, we become the unstoppable engine that will drive our party to a comeback victory in 2028,” she stated.
Ms Lomokie consequently called on women across the party to unite behind a common purpose and work collectively towards strengthening the NPP.
