President Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has offered his best wishes to final year Senior High School (SHS) students who started their final examinations from Monday, July 20, 2020.

The President, in a statement issued yesterday, said: “I send best wishes to the three hundred and seventy-five thousand, eight hundred  and thirty-seven (375,737) final year  Senior High  School students, who will, from Monday, 20th July, take the West Africa Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).”

According to the President, whilst every Ghanaian acknowledges  that education is the key to the future of Ghana, everything possible must be done, even in the midst of the COVID-19, “ to guarantee the prospects of our youth, protect their potential, and, thereby, help preserve our collective future.”

Observe rules

The President again urged the students, staff and non-teaching staff to religiously abide by the Covid-19 protocols.

“Just as has been done over the course of the last four weeks, since their return to school, I continue to urge everyone associated with the conduct of this year’s WASSCE, that is teaching and non-teaching staff, invigilators and students, to abide by the enhanced hygiene, mask wearing and social distancing protocols they have become accustomed to. They continue to remain our weapons in the fight to defeat COVID-19,” he said.

The West African Examination Council, last week, released a fresh timetable for the 2020 WASSCE.

The examination commences today with Project Work for Visual Arts candidates, while the theory papers will start from August 3, 2020, until September 5, 2020.
