Twenty-six people living with disabilities in the Upper Manya krobo District on Tuesday 1st October, 2019 received Government’s support at Sekesua. The support according to the District Chief Executive of the Upper Manya Krobo District Assembly, Felix Nartey Odjao, is to empower them to be self sufficient by establishing their own businesses.
Some of the beneficiaries received farming Inputs such as Fertilizer, matchetes, Weedicides, Spraying Machine among others. Others received cash amount of GHC 1000.00 and above, Deepfreezers with Ice Chest, educational support as well as Medical support.
The DCE in his address stated that 655 people living with disabilities in his district have so far received various supports under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government.
In a breakdown of the 655 beneficiaries, he said that under his leadership in the district, 354 persons have received farming inputs, 102 persons received cash support for Petty Trading, 43 persons received Deepfreezers & Ice Chest, 21 persons received Industrial Sewing Machines, 75 Livestock rearing established, 38 persons received Medical support, 29 persons received Educational support as well as 5 persons received Shoe Making Machines.
He added that the district has been a beneficiary of various government’s social interventions and supports under the various policy initiatives adding that currently, 2,125 SHS Students of the Asesewa SHS are beneficiaries of the free SHS policy.
Mr. Joesph Nontey, Chairperson of the Association of People With Disabilities PWDs in the Area expressed his heart felt appreciation to the DCE and the President for the continuous support.
