The Sekondi-Takoradi veterinary laboratory will soon begin testing suspected Covid-19 cases in the Western Region.

The move is the outcome of a collaborative effort by the Western Regional Coordinating Council and key stakeholders.

According to experts, the facility is ideal and efficient for testing of microbes.   They also say it is resourced and equally efficient just like Noguchi Memorial Institute.

At a meeting with the veterinary officers to formalise arrangements, the Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, spoke of plans to further upgrade the laboratory with support from benevolent organisations.   He said this and other initiatives are all geared towards controlling spread of coronavirus among the residents of the region
