The Upper West Regional House of Chiefs has commended the Vice-President and NPP Flagbearer, Mahamudu Bawumia, for his high integrity in the governance administration of the country.
They gave the commendation during Dr Bawumia’s campaign tour of the region yesterday to share his vision and policies for Ghana under his potential presidency.
“Your principles, honesty, accountability and transparency in governance and devotion to duty are positive qualities that will inure to your future endeavours,” the President of the Regional House of Chiefs, Naa Dikomwine Domalee, Dafiama Naa, said.
He added that “We are very proud of you. We wish you well in your task of assisting the President of Ghana in governing mother Ghana. As traditional rulers, we understand you and your problems but wish to assure you that we pray to the ancestors for their blessings on you”.
He also lauded the government of President Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia for the significant impact of the Free SHS programme in the country. Dafiama Naa acknowledged the impact of Free SHS in the region, saying that “every parent can testify.”
“We the chiefs and people of the Upper West Region congratulate you and your government for the flagship programmes that have so far been implemented,” he stated.
Gratitude
He thanked the government for solving many of the challenges associated with the implementation of the free SHS policy and making education affordable and accessible to all Ghanaians, irrespective of their social and economic status.
“Parents with wards in Senior High Schools, trainee nurses and teachers can testify to this,” he stated. The Regional House of Chiefs also praised the government for other impactful initiatives from which the region has benefited immensely.
“The fertilizer subsidy and supply of inputs to farmers impacted positively on the lives of the people of the region. Our region is on record to have had the largest number of beneficiaries under the planting for food and jobs,” he said.
He called for attention to key roads in the region, which they said are in poor condition. The Upper West Regional House of Chiefs lauded the NPP flagbearer for his honesty and transparency.
For his part, Dr. Bawumia thanked the Regional House of Chiefs for their support, prayers and encouragement over the years. He touched on the works he had undertaken as Vice- President to support the President.
He also shared his proposed policies for agriculture, mining, overhauling the tax system, and youth policies, among others.
