Two communities in the Asene Manso Akroso District, Teacher Atta and Atiankama Camp, have, for the first time in their history, been provided with potable drinking water.
The water projects were executed through the initiative of the Member of Parliament for the area, George Kwame Aboagye, with support from the District Chief Executive, Alex Incoom.
The projects were funded by Lareter and Fimap Foundation, an Italian firm, and the Asene Manso Akroso District Assembly.
Government’s commitment
Handing over the new water projects to the two communities at separate ceremonies, Mr Incoom, assured of the government’s commitment to ensuring that every community gets good drinking water.
He said apart from the many life-changing government policies such as the Planting for Food and Jobs, the Free SHS programme, One District, One Factory among others, the government is also committed to ensuring that every community gets benefits that are directly tailored to the needs of the people in such communities.
He urged them to continue to support the MP and the government for more of such projects to be made available to them.
Good maintenance
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Action Against Rural Poverty and a representative of Lareter and Fimap, Gladys Kwartema, thanked the MP and the Assembly for their support in seeing to the completion of the projects.
He asked the communities to take good care of the facility. She noted that the good maintenance culture that will be exhibited by the communities is what will inform the organisation’s decision whether to help executive other projects to them or not.
