President Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured that his government will ensure equitable spread of development in each of the six newly created regions.

“We are not like those who used the country’s resources to buy ‘akonfem’, those who believe that we will not be able to fulfil our promises. They keep saying that we are lying about the progress we have made on roads. That is why the media is here. You can check and find out whether or not we are lying and inform everyone,” he said.

President Akufo-Addo said this yesterday at Buem, in Oti Region, as part of his 3-day tour of the Oti and Volta regions.

He said each of the newly created regions will have the necessary regional institutions.
“Yesterday, we inaugurated the Regional Agricultural Directorate in Nkwanta. Today, we are inaugurating the Regional Educational Directorate here in Jasikan. Worawora will also have the Regional Health directorate. The Feeder Road Directorate will be in Kete Krachi,” he said.
This, according to him, will bring unity, equal distribution of resources and development to the region.
The President assured the chiefs and people of Buem: “If God permits, and we win the next election, we will put in place structures to establish a university here as well.”

Shine in WASSCE

On the Free SHS policy, he expressed delight at the doubling of the enrolment of Bueman Senior High School, from 1,000 students in January 2017 to 2,000 students now.
Whilst assuring the school of the provision of a new bus and pickup vehicle, he urged the first batch of Free SHS students to study hard and guarantee exemplary results in this year’s WASSCE.
“You have to excel in these exams to show the country that this policy is worth investing in for our children. I believe that God will stop those who want to cancel the policy or review it, because ‘four more for Nana’ means four more years for free senior high school education,” President Akufo-Addo stressed.

Good leadership

At a durbar held at Nkwanta in honour of the President, the paramount chief of Nkwanta Akyode, Nana Obombo Sewura Lupuwura II, lauded him for his good leadership.
“All the people in the region and beyond will attest to the fact that within this very short period of our independence, we as a region have begun to witness remarkable and progressive development.

“His Excellency, we wish to appreciate your good leadership since your assumption of this high office of the Presidency,” he said.

He thanked the President for the construction of emergency school blocks and a girls’ dormitory at Nkwanta Senior High, as a means of addressing the increased enrolment by reason of “your best policy of Free Senior High School”.

The Nkwanta chief stated that, but for the free senior high school policy, a total of 4,397 students, currently enrolled in the three senior high schools in the municipality, could not have had the opportunity to access secondary education.
