The upcoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential and parliamentary primaries, scheduled for May 13, 2023, have been hit with a fresh injunction application filed by a member of the party.

According to a report by Asaase Radio, Edgar Asamoah Boateng, a card-bearing member of the NDC in Abuakwa North, filed the application at the High Court in Adenta seeking an order to injunct the primaries.

Asamoah Boateng claims that the first and second defendants, referring to the NDC and the Electoral Commission (EC) respectively, have failed to provide the voters’ register to his representatives and other aspirants, including presidential candidates.

The plaintiff argues that the failure to provide a proper photo album of eligible voters has caused a lot of rancor and acrimony in the party. He believes that the lack of transparency in the process could affect the credibility of the elections.

This development comes after another flagbearer aspirant of the NDC, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, filed an interlocutory injunction earlier this week to halt the primaries until a complete photo album register had been delivered to him five weeks ahead of the election.
