Assemblyman of Naa Merley electoral area in Ashaiman, Ayiku Kabutey

The Assemblyman of Naa Merley electoral area in Ashaiman, Ayiku Kabutey, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the recent opening of the Ashaiman main market. He indicated that the opening of the market has caused the rise in the recorded cases of the novel Coronavirus, Covid-19 pandemic in the area.

“I am not happy with the Municipal Assembly for the opening of the main market,” he said.

Ashaiman as at May 6 had recorded 45 cases with five recoveries and one death.

According to the Assemblyman even before the confirmed cases of the pandemic in the area, Ashaiman was  classified among the ‘most dangerous’ towns in the Greater Accra Region due to the criminal activities of some of its residents saying the least the people need now is increase in the number of its Covid-19 cases.

“Notwithstanding, the bad tag of us being dangerous, people seem to love the town due to the ongoing new developments projects, increase in number of Covi-19 cases will further soil our reputation and that is the least thing we need now,” he said.
