Ghanaian pastor and entrepreneur, Bishop Gideon Titi-Ofei has today March 31 2020 offered a 100-bed-facility to the Tema West Municipal Health Directorate to be used as isolation centre within the period of the fighting of the novel coronavirus, Covid-19.
The facility was initially used to accommodate Bible School students of the Joshua Leadership Training Programme, a school under the auspices of the Ghana Academy of Pastors.
In a Facebook post, the behaviourial leadership coach and Chief Executive Officer of the TITI-OFEI GROUP, said “this afternoon I met the head of Tema West Municipal Health Directorate Dr. Obrempong Owusu and offered them a 100 bed facility to be used as ISOLATION CENTRE within the period of fighting the COVID19 pandemic. #forGod&Country.”
Donations
The founder of Titi-Ofei Ministries is among a host of organisations, churches, pastors, politicians and individuals who have so far contributed to Ghana’s fight against the world pandemic.
The Church of Pentecost, has for example donated, personal protective equipment worth over GH¢45,000 to aid in the country’s fight against the global pandemic. According to the Church, the PPEs are to be distributed to all frontline health personnel in the country. Some of the items donated include; nose masks, N95 respirators, face shields, goggles, hand sanitizers among others. The Church also released 10 cinema vans to the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) to intensify public education across the country.
Founder and leader of Anointed Palace Chapel, Rev. Obofour, has also donated GHC100,000 and other items to the Tema General Hospital to aid in the fight against the novel coronavirus.
Mining firm, Newmont Ghana, has also announced a US$100,000 support package for Ghana’s public health. The donation is to support the nation’s efforts to “minimize the transmission of the Coronavirus in the country”.
Others such as former President John Dramani Mahama and the opposition National Democratic Congress, Guinness Ghana limited, MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyepong, among others have also made various donations to support the fight.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia have also donated their next three months’ salary to the fight while various appointees of the government have followed suit.
Case count
Ghana’s confirmed cases of Covid-19 as at today March 31 2020, stands at 161. This follows nine (9) new cases that were reported from the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR).
According to the government’s official portal dedicated to the pandemic, “all nine were reported from Accra, three (3) of them travelled to Ghana within the past 14 days from Germany, France and Hungary respectively but for six (6) of them there is no history of travel outside.”
