Joseph Kofi Adda, Minister of Aviation

The Ministry of Aviation has said that domestic flight operations will commence tomorrow, May 1, from the Kotoka International Airport(KIA) to other cities in the country.

The Ministry, in a press release signed by the sector Minister, Joseph Kofi Adda, said it is his expectation that domestic airline operators and the traveling public will comply strictly with the laid down protocols by officials of port health stationed at various airports.

The Ministry is however collaborating with the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Ghana Airports Company Limited and the Ghana health service to ensure smooth domestic airline operations.

Disinfection

“The commencement of domestic air travel operations comes in the wake of the disinfection of major airports in Ghana including KIA in Accra, Kumasi, Tamale and Takoradi following the lifting of the partial lockdown by President Akufo-Addo”, the statement said.

The Minister added that they will review laid down protocols during the domestic operations and when necessary, introduce improved procedures to further enhance the measures to strengthen the fight against the novel coronavirus pandemic.

All travelers, airline operators and all stakeholders have, thus, been urged to cooperate with the government during this difficult period, assuring the travelling public that the country’s airports are safe for operations.
