The Eastern Regional Director of Health Services Dr. Alberta Biritwum Nyarko has appealed to the Government to provide the Eastern Regional Heath Directorate with more fibre glass boats to enable them carry out their operations effectively on the Afram River at Afram Plains.
Dr. Alberta Biritwum Nyarko made this appeal when speaking with Kwasi Azor during the commissioning of new Out Patients Department Block and Renovation of Laboratory building at Kwahu Pepease Health Centre. The kind gesture was sponsored by the Ntim Family and Give hope foundation in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region.
The Eastern Regional Director of Health Services noted that many health facilities on the island on the River Afram receive emergency cases regularly, some of which requires urgent referrals to other hospitals for further medical attention but due to the absence of boats they find it difficult to refer such patients.
The Kwahu East District Director of Health Services, Madam Vida Efua Afful, on her part pleaded for motor bikes for the health professionals in the area. She said that all Motor bikes they use for outreach programmes have broken down making it difficult for health workers to reach remote communities.
She pleaded with the government and other philanthropists to come to the aid of the health directorate.
On his part the Kwahu East District Chief Executive, Hon Isaac Agyapong stated that the government is committed to providing quality health care for all Ghanaians.
He said the priority of the District Assembly was to ensure the assembly had access to basic social amenities especially in the area of healthcare delivery, stressing the need to embark on massive implementation of such projects.
Chief of Pepease, Nana Bonsu Ayiripe Ababio called on the people of Pepease to also help in diverse ways they can for the development of the area. He pleaded with the people to eschew pessimism and work hand in hand for the development of the town.
