The Eastern Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for Nkawkaw, Eric Kwakye Darfour, has supplied some assorted drugs to the health directorate of the Kwahu West municipality.

The drugs, mainly for the treatment of chronic diseases such diabetes, hypertension, cancer, among others, are for onward distribution to the health units in the municipality.
The MP has also presented 21 blood pressure (BP) apparatuses for the municipality. The BP apparatuses had been requested by the municipal director of health services, Mrs Celestine Asante, to replace the obsolete equipment in the area.
About 50 health facilities in the area are expected to benefit from the gesture.

Important need

Presenting the items, Mr Darfour stated that he felt the need to supply the constituents with the medicines since issues about health cannot be toiled with. He said the development of every country depends on the health of its human resources, hence the need to ensure that adequate measures are provided to keep the public healthy.
He pleaded with the health directorate to ensure even distribution of the drugs and equipment to all the health facilities in the area.
Speaking to the Eveningmailgh after the donation, Mr Darfour pleaded with the people to see their health needs as a priority. He advised them to avoid entertaining things that can have effect on their health.
Mr Darfour also advised the constituents to take advantage of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), saying the Akufo-Addo-led government has revamped the scheme and is now robust than it used to be before 2017.
He urged them to exercise regularly and embark on regular medical checkups to know their health status.
The municipal director of health services, who received the equipment, praised the MP for the gesture. She assured the MP that the health directorate will see to the effective use of the drugs and the equipment.
She pleaded with other well-meaning Ghanaians to also come to their aid since there are several problems that are hampering the smooth discharge of their services.
The MP assured them that he will continue to help in solving the problems that confront the health directorate in the area.
