Blood sample with respiratory coronavirus positive
Ghana has confirmed three new cases of COVID-19.
This increases the number of confirmed cases in the country to19. This was confirmed by the Director General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr. Patrick Aboagye, this morning on Joy News’ Newsfile.
Dr. Aboagye disclosed that the three new cases are all imported cases.
The country’s website dedicated to report on COVID-19 cases confirming said “Three (3) new COVID-19 cases confirmed on the 20th March 2020. Two were reported from Greater Accra Region and one from Ashanti Region.”
They are 55-year-old Ghanaian woman; resident of the UK; returned to Ghana within two weeks; 84-year-old Ghanaian lady resident of the United Kingdom; came back to Ghana within the past two (2) weeks; developed symptoms and sample confirmed positive in the laboratory and 27-year-old Chinese male; returned to Ghana (Ashanti Region) in the past two weeks; developed symptoms and sample confirmed positive in the laboratory.
“This brings to a total of nineteen (19) confirmed cases in Ghana, with no death. Contact tracing has started in all these confirmed cases,” the website said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Titus Beyuo, Deputy General Secretary of the Association, has expressed concerns about the number of community spread cases recorded.
Contributing to the discussion on Joy News, Dr. Beyuo advised all Ghanaians to be extra careful in these hard times and protect themselves.
New test centres
Meanwhile, the Director General of GHS has disclosed that the GHS is putting measures in place to increase the number of testing centres from two to four.
He said one of the centres will be in Tamale.
