The Omanhene Asafohene of the Akyem kotoku traditional Area,Nana Atta Kwaku II has stated that most of the lands in the Akyem Kotoku area have not benefited from the government’s flagship programme ,one District ,One Factory[1D1F],due to protracted chieftancy disputes.According to him no investor will invest in area where there is no peace.

Nana Kwaku Atta made this pronouncement when he was addressing the media at his residence in Akyem Oda.He said there are about six Municipal and District Assemblies {MDAs} in the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area and non of these has benefited from this flagship programme.”There are almost six Municipal and District in the Akyem Kotoku state and none of these states has benefited from the 1D1F”,said Nana Kwaku Atta.He said apart from 1D1F programme ,these districts cannot boast of any development in these areas because of disunity among the chiefs.

He therefore called on the Senior Minister ,Yaw Osarfo Marfo,and the minister of chieftancy and religious Affairs to intervene and settle the disputes in the kotoku states.

Background

There has being a chieftancy dispute in the Akyem kotoku traditional area about who becomes the paramount chief for almost 20 years.The case is still pending at the House of Chiefs.
