The department of medical laboratory sciences of the Koforidua Technical University (KTU) is producing large quantities of alcohol-based hand sanitizers to help the fight against coronavirus pandemic as part of its corporate social responsibility.
The effort is to help contain the spread of the disease.
The university has so far distributed for free about 1000 pieces of the alcohol-based hand sanitizers to drivers in the New Juaben North and South municipalities as well as inmates of the Koforidua Prisons.
The initiative has attracted attention of health organizations in the country.
The Ghana Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists has commended the university for the intitative.
“The department of medical laboratory technology at the Koforidua Technical University has produced and supplied about 1000 pieces of alcohol-based hand sanitizers to drivers and prisoners in the New Juaben municipality. Kudos to the professionals,” the Association said in a facebook post.
