Mimi Duah, NPP Deputy National Women Organiser

A Deputy National Women Organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party, Mimi Duah, has urged women in the party to stay vigilant and not lose sight of the party’s goal of retaining power in 2024.

“Let us all work hard to support our constituency women organizers by talking about the party’s programs and policies to our neighbours. The party cannot satisfy everybody at the same time unless we work hard to keep the party in power for a longer period. You did not get the positions by chance, the people trust and voted for you or gave you the mandate with the other executives to win political power,” she said.

Speaking at an orientation organized by the Kwadaso constituency women’s wing of the party, Ms Duah acknowledged that the battle ahead of the party would be a difficult one.

She however assured the women that with dedication and hard work, the party can sail through the storms of 2024.

The constituency orientation project is part of programmes and projects initiated by the National Women Wing to empower polling station women organisers and other identifiable women groups in the party.

Ms Duah embarked on a working visit to the Bono East and Ashanti Regions, ending at Kwadaso, as part of the mobilization campaign of the women’s wing and expressed the appreciation of the National Women Organiser, Kate Gyamfua, to the constituency women wings for spearheading the project.

Hannah Bissiw

Meanwhile, Ms Duah has stated that the newly elected National Women’s Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Dr Hannah Bissiw, poses no threat to the NPP women’s wing.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the Kwadaso orientation, she noted that Dr Bissiw was the NDC’s National Women Organiser when Ms Gyamfua beat her in the last election, winning more of the women’s votes for the NPP. She added that similar fate awaits Dr Bissiw in the 2024 general elections.

“Our mother Kate Gyamfua worked against the same person during the last election. We all witnessed her abysmal performance as a failed national women organizer for NDC and a Parliamentary candidate for Tano North.

“Her constituency even rejected her. It is only a visionless party like the NDC that will re-elect Dr. Bissiw to marshal women. She is the same old Bissiw we know,” she said.
