The Natural Resource Governance Institute, an NGO has successfully organized a 3 day media training workshop on resource governance for news editors and reporters at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra.
The training which happened on 7th-9th November, 2019 was on the theme “strengthening media capacity to play an effective oversight role in promoting good governance of state-owned enterprises and state participation in the extractive sector” had the objective of growing journalists ability to interrogate and interpret public debates on SOE governance and ensure balanced reporting.
The media practitioners were taken through a variety of methods in the conduct of the training such as story writing sessions, story review sessions, small group discussions, think breaks, case studies, interactive PowerPoint presentation and exercises.
Seasoned resource persons such as Nafi Chinery (Ghana Office Manager, NRGI), Emmanuel Kuyole (Executive Director at Centre for Extractive and Development Africa, CEDA), Kwame Baah Nuakoh, Ph.D (General Manager, Sustainability at GNPC) were brought to facilitate the training workshop with Gideon Ofosu-Peasah as course consultant.
Amansan Krakye of GBC Radio Central in Cape Coast and also the P.R.O for GRASAG National who was a participant at the training workshop said
