The president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo will on Thursday 21st February 2019 be in parliament to present his third State of the Nation Address

 

This is in furtherance with the provisions of the 1992 constitution which enjoins the president to address Parliament at least ones every year.

 

 

The president is expected to speak on key national issues at the media encounter.

 

Security

 

Issues bordering on security are expected to feature prominently in the President’s State of the Nation’s address today.

Key industry leaders are already demanding answers from the President on concrete steps that the government will take to forestall peace and ensure a secure working environment for businesses to thrive.

 

Ahead of the address, some of the industry players are calling on the President to use that opportunity to assure the business community that all security threats will be tackled head-on.

 

 

Ghana Cedi depreciation

 

The President is also expected to speak on the falling value of the cedi against major foreign currencies. The NPP government campaigned vehemently with the level of cedi depreciation and the president is expected to speak to the nation on the measures put in place to ensure a stabilized currency.

 

ECONOMY

 

The president is also expected to be speaking about the economy which is in its all-time performing best within the last 4years. With inflation down, reduction in utility tariffs, increase in GDP growth, reduction in debt to GDP ratio, lowest interest rate among others, the president is expected to speak to this all important issue.

 

NABCO

The president is expected to address the bold and audacious Nations Builders Corp policy that has employed about 100,000 graduates across the country.

 

The novel policy has had some graduates currently working at various sectors under the various modules such as educate Ghana, civic Ghana, feed Ghana, heel Ghana,  Revenue Ghana, Digitize Ghana among others.

 

With the NABCO beneficiaries taking their first monthly allowance, the president is expected to address the Nation on the way forward of this all important program.

 

 

Free SHS/Double Track System

 

In the second year of its implementation, the free senior High School policy has also paid fees for the Day final year students and paid half of the fees of the Boarders in the final year. Saddled with infrastructure challenges, the government also introduced the double track system to combat issues with infrastructure.

The president is therefore expected to address the nation on this issue.

 

Planting for food and Jobs

 

The president’s planting for food and jobs program is yielding fruits with Ghana exporting some food stuff to neighboring countries after a long while.

The president is expected to speak on the successes of the PFJ and the way forward.

The president is also expected to speak on the 1D1F, lifting of ban on small scale mining, infrastructural projects among others.

 

Other sectors the president is expected to speak on include issues such as sports, economy, foreign policy, employment, Agriculture, among others.

 

Known for his tactfulness and high sense of humour, the presentation is expected to be lively, educative and informative.
