Ps King-David assents to KLC Assembly of God Welfare constitution

Head pastor of Kingdom Life Centre Assembly of God at Amrahia-Tollbooth in the Dodowa District of Greater Accra, Pastor King David Avorgbedor, on Sunday, October 2, 2022, assented to the Welfare Constitution of the church, making it a binding legal document to regulate welfare activities in the church.

The Constitution, which went through a year-long preparation process, from the day it was assented to, became the guiding regulation for the execution of the Welfare Department of the Church. The preamble of the constitution, among others, provides that the document is subject “to the Regulations of Kingdom Life Centre, the Constitution and by-laws of Assemblies of God-Ghana, Constitution of the Republic of Ghana and the dictates of the Holy Bible.”

Ps Avorgbedor commended the Welfare department for its dedication to getting the constitution ready. He noted that the action of the Department has once again proven that the young church has dedicated human resources who are committed to seeing to the growth of the work of God.

He encouraged other leaders of the church to show commitment to the growth and development of their departments.

Processes

The Ag Chairman of the Welfare Department, Kwasi Frimpong, leading the promulgation, enumerated the processes the writing and approval of the constitution went through. He stated that following the putting together of an Interim Committee to manage the Welfare Department in the Church, the Head pastor tasked them to come out with a constitution. He noted that by September 2021, the department started the consultation processes beginning with the pastor.

During the first quarter business meeting of the church, all church members were given the opportunity to contribute to the drafting of the Constitution where views were collated.

Subsequently, by April 2022, the first draft of the Constitution was read before the entire church at a special church service held specifically for that process. After the April meeting, copies were made available to all members of the church and all departments to study and make their input.

All concerns were collated and the necessary changes were made. At the last council meeting of the church in September 2022, the Ag Chairman informed the council that the document was ready to be promulgated. At that stage, the final document to be promulgated had been made available to all members and departments of the church.

Before calling for the promulgation the Ag Chairman stated that “Having gone through painstaking processes to get this document ready, it is the belief of the acting leadership of the Welfare Department, and believe same to be true of the head pastor and the church council, that this document truly and wholly reflects the wishes, hopes, aspirations and the true will of all members of the church,” a statement which was welcomed with thunderous applause from members of the church.
