The Ghana Scholarships Secretariat is scheduled to commence its nationwide selection interviews for the 2021/2022 academic year, starting from August 23, 2021, according to the Registrar of Scholarships, Mr Kingsley Agyemang.
He made this disclosure yesterday at a media briefing in Accra, where he stated that the selection interviews would be held across all the 260 MMDAs in the country with strict adherence to the COVID-19 safety protocols.
He called on applicants who were successful with their aptitude test to contact their selected districts for interview details, and also check the interview schedule from the Secretariat’s website, www.scholarshipgh.com.

Making reference to the 2020/2021 academic year, which saw a total of 42,185 students in local tertiary institutions having their tuition fees paid, he added that some 151 accredited local tertiary institutions, both private and public, benefitted from the scholarship awards.
According to him, GH¢75,651,277.28 has been spent on local scholarship payments for the 2020/2021 academic year.
According to Mr Agyemang, for the 2021/2022 academic year, the scholarship application portal, which was opened on July 1, 2021, had a total of 140,642 new applicants registering for scholarship awards, with 32,120 applicants applying for renewal of their scholarship award.
Message to MMDCEs
Mr Agyemang also urged the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives to ensure that they help in empanelling the members of the District Scholarship Review Committee for this all- important national assignment.
The committee, he added, would be made up of the MMDCE, a representative from the traditional authority in the district, a district education director, the sitting MP in the district and two representatives from the Scholarships Secretariat.
