Buying items online is not a new thing in Ghana. People started buying stuff online a couple of decades ago. Remember the popular Sakawa jargon? It was associated with buying stuff online with other people’s credentials. This, I believe lead to the banning of Ghana from some US based services like the PayPal.
Fast forward to today, and online shopping is booming. From foreign retail shops like Ebay, Amazon, BestBuy to our own local giant, Jumia Ghana. People are buying a wide range of items from the comfort of their homes today.
This sharp rise, I attribute to the emergence of smartphones and how they have besieged the Ghanaian market. But it is all safe to shop online?
