A Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Member of Parliament for the Akyem Swedru Constituency, Kennedy Osei Nyarko, has stated that Ghana as a country should “start cracking the whip on some of these Music Artistes whose actions and inactions threaten the security of this country” before they get out of hand.
According to the Deputy Minister, American music duo Tupac Shakur and Notorious BIG (Biggie Smalls)’s beef started like this but the American security ignored their continuous acrimony on each other until it got out of hand.
Tupac and Notorious BIG
Tupac Shakur and Notorious BIG were friends before they became staunch enemies in the American Music industry. The rivalry between the two grew to the point where no one could control it until both were shot dead as a results of the acrimony.
The Tupac vs BIG rivalry also known as the East Coast–West Coast hip hop rivalry was a feud between artists and fans of the East Coast hip hop and West Coast hip hop scenes in the United States, especially from 1994 to 1997.
The rivalry got out of hand when East Coast–based rapper The Notorious B.I.G. and West Coast–based rapper Tupac Shakur were both murdered in drive-by shootings. Orlando Anderson (a.k.a. Baby Lane) is believed to be the person responsible for the murder of Shakur. However, the person responsible for the murder of The Notorious B.I.G. remains unknown.
Stonebwoy vrs Shatta Wale
Commenting on the scuffle that ensued between supporters of Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale on the night of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) 20th edition, the Akyem Swedru Legislator called on the police to act swiftly and arrest both and bond them. He also called for the immediate withdrawal of their gun licenses.
Charter House License
Mr. Osei Nyarko also called on the Organizer’s of the program to “answer for this unfortunate incidence.” He further called for the suspension of the license of Charter house, organisers of the VGMA for further review.
“The Organizer’s of the program must be made to answer for this unfortunate incidence and if possible their license for organizing such programs suspended.” He said.
Scuffle
The 20th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) nearly turned bloody following a scuffle between some patrons of the show
The award held On Saturday 18th May and entered the early hours of Sunday, 19 May 2019 was marred with brawl and gun shots. The unfortunate incidence occurred when fans of dancehall artistes Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale engaged in near fisticuffs over the Reggae Dancehall Artiste of the year award.
The confusion began when Stonebwoy was announced as the Reggae Dancehall Artiste of the Year. For unknown reasons, Shatta Wale and his fans upon seeing stonebwoy on the podium got off their seats and moved towards the podium. Supporters of Stonebwoy who were not happy with the ‘invasion’ by Shatta and his fans tried to stop them leading to a brawl between the two groups.
In the heat of the brawl, a police man was seen in a video in the possession of https://eveningmailgh.com pull a gun and give a warning short. In the same video, Stonebwoy was also spotted with a gun on the stage. Report say, whiles this was ongoing, the security present sprayed pepper in the auditorium in an attempt to prevent a full-blown fight and Patrons had to run out of the auditorium as they could not breathe due to the pepper.
