Some trainee-nurses at the Oda Community Health Nurses Training School have praised the government for the payment of the three months arrears of their restored allowances.

Amidst singing, drumming and dancing, the nursing trainees who beseeched a ceremony organized by the Tertiary Education Students Confederacy (TESCON) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to induct into office new set of executives for the school expressed appreciation to the government for the payment of the allowance.

Good Faith

Speaking on behalf of the nurses, the local branch president of TESCON, Ebenezer Donkor said the payment of the arrears has revived in the nurses the strong believe that the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government means well for all citizens. including nurses.

 

He called on the media to help educate politicians and social commentators on the mode of payment of the allowance.

Mr. Donkoh said, as a practice, the allowance is paid on semester basis adding that all the number of months spent within a semester are paid at a go.  He stated that this “was agreed between the trainees and the government and so people who make noise about unpaid allowances must understand the mode of payment.”

A former acting National Communication Director of the NPP, Yaw Adomako Baafi assured the trainee-nurses that he is reliably informed that the current semester’s allowance which will take care of the first three months of 2019 will soon be paid.

He stated that information he has from reliable quarters indicates that, barring any last minute hitches, the money should be paid latest by mid-April, a statement that sent the auditorium into uncontrolled ecstasy.

Maintain NPP to Maintain Allawa

On his part, Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority, Mr. Emmanuel Asigri who was the guest speaker for the occasion, urged the students to continue to support the NPP government to stay in power for long for continuous payment of the allowance. He stated that the NDC has shown that the allowance shall be cancelled when they return to power and urged the students to be ambassadors of the good things the NPP government is doing to maintain the party in power.

More Jobs

Mr. Kwame A. Prempeh, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Procurement Authority assured the students that, with the coming out of the country from the IMF program that the NDC government sent Ghana into, the country has now purged itself from all growth stifling conditionalities and hence more jobs shall be created. He assured the students that the Akufo-Addo government in the next two years is going to create more jobs and urged them to continue to support the party.

All other speakers who graced the occasion including the Deputy Director of the national Service Scheme, Gifty oware-Aboagye, technical  Director of YEA, Afua Gyekyewaa, various MDCEs, CEO of Community Group of Hosptals, Alexander Akwasi Acquah and national, regional and constituency executives of the ruling NPP urged the students to take their books serious and continue to propagate the good works of the government to their colleagues.

Strengthening TESCON

The Eastern Regional Youth Organiser of the NPP, Jerry Osei-Poku stated that he has plans to strengthen all TESCON chapters in the region.

He stated that as part of the plans he has asked all the various chapters to organise at meetings at least twice in a month to ginger and expand their membership base. He lauded the CHNTS local Chapter TESCON for putting up a very colourful occassaion. He assured them of his absolute support to make the TESCON strong in the area.

Enviable Chapters

Aaron Donkoh, the youth organiser for the Akyem Oda Constituency expressed his appreciation to the invitees for making the event a success. He assured the invited guests that he will continue to work hard in making all the TESCON local chapters in his constituency the most enviable among all TESCON local chapters in the region.
