
The University of Ghana has officially welcomed its newest cohort of students at the 2024-2025 Matriculation Ceremony, held on the university’s campus. The vibrant ceremony was attended by College Registrars, Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, and distinguished guests, all gathered to celebrate the significant milestone in the academic journeys of the newly admitted students.
Professor Samuel Nii Ardey Cujoe, Provost of the College of Education, delivered the opening address on behalf of Vice-Chancellor Professor Nanaba Appiah-Amfu. He congratulated the freshmen and women for their hard work in earning a place at Ghana’s premier university.
The ceremony officially inducted the new students as junior members of the university community, with the students taking the matriculation oath, pledging to uphold the values, rules, and traditions of the institution. This solemn vow signifies their commitment to the high standards of academic and personal excellence expected of them.
Professor Cujoe encouraged the students to take full advantage of the resources and support services offered by the university, stressing the importance of academic success, personal growth, and contributing to the vibrant campus life. “Excellence is not only measured by grades but by the skills, values, and resilience you develop,” said Professor Appiah-Amfu.
In support of learning, over 500 laptops have been provided for needy and brilliant students. The lecture halls have also been well-prepared to enhance teaching and learning. The university aims to prepare students to compete with their peers from other schools and help the institution achieve its goals.
The event concluded with heartfelt applause for the new students, marking the beginning of their academic pursuits at the University of Ghana. The ceremony set the tone for what promises to be a fulfilling and impactful time at the institution, as the freshmen embark on their journey toward becoming future leaders and innovators.
