The Eastern Regional Youth Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Jerry Osei Poku has noted that the ruling New Patriotic Party will not use violence to retain power in 2020.

According to Mr. Osei-Poku, if violence was a panacea to retaining power, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) would not have lost the 2016 general elections.

He stated that the good works of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo – Addo led administration are what would speak for the NPP in the upcoming 2020 general polls and not by engaging in violent acts that would undermine the peace and security in the country.

The NPP Regional Youth Organizer made the statement in response to the claim by the former president John Dramani Mahama that the NPP cannot match the NDC in unleashing violence.

Mr. Osei Opoku who was speaking after a health walk and screening organized by joint TESCONS of NPP of all the tertiary institutions at Koforidua said the NPP believes in politics of ideas and not politics of violence.

He challenged the NDC to bring forth their ideas on better alternatives to the good policies of the government such as the Free Senior High School, Restoration of Trainee Allowances, NABCO among others.

On his part, the President of Nana Bawumia Movement, Mr. Paul Amaning, who also joined the walk assured the party of the readiness of the various volunteer groups ahead of the 2020 General elections.

He used the opportunity to advise the youth to take advantage of the government’s planting for food and jobs and start something meaningful for themselves.

The walk was attended by some National officers of the party and CEOs of government corporations including the Deputy National Youth Organizer, Joseph Nyaniba Kwayaja, the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Free Zones Authority, Michael Okyere Baafi, and the Regional Communication Director; David Prah among other party bigwigs.
