Major market centres in the Eastern Region are expected to be disinfected on Saturday, April 4 2020. This is part of the ongoing nationwide fumigation exercise to disinfect major market centres in the country, as part of the measures to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.

According to the Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Darfour, the exercise will take place in all districts in the region.

Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) have, thus, been directed to put in place adequate measures to ensure the success of the exercise, “particularly to have effective consultations with the market women for collaboration”.

Meanwhile, the Regional Minister has disclosed that a meeting with officials of Zoomlion Ghana Ltd on operational issues concerning the fumigation exercise has been completed, expressing the hope that the exercise will be carried out smoothly.

Similar exercises have also been carried out in the Greater Accra, Ashanti, Bono, Bono East and Ahafo regions.
