President Akufo-Addo
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo yesterday sworn into office 13 Ambassadors, High Commissioners and their deputies, who will be representing the country in various countries.
Making it the second swearing in of envoys in the President’s second term, he presented their letters of credentials to them after consulting with the Council of State, in accordance with the Constitution.
The President said regardless of how they were appointed, whether by political appointment or through the diplomatic path, the envoys have all been chosen carefully to represent the country.
“They have distinguished themselves in their various fields of endeavour and in the public service of our country and are eminently fit to represent Ghana in their respective places of accreditation,” he said.
Make Ghana proud
Congratulating them, President Akufo -Addo added that he was confident they would make Ghana proud.
He told the appointees that their appointments had come at a very important moment , not only in global affairs but in the development of Ghana, stressing that all countries are working hard to return to normalcy following the devastating effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
President Akufo-Addo said most of the world economies had been plunged into a state of relapse, with lives lost and businesses collapsed.
Hope
The President however said the ongoing vaccination campaign gives mankind some array of hope, adding that the world would make up on lost time soon.
He said the lessons taught countries by the pandemic is that they need to tighten their bond of cooperation with one another.
The President also reminded the envoys that their work is very important in these trying times.
“We in Ghana, by the grace of God, as a result of the cooperation of Ghanaians, have had a favourable situation with the effects of the pandemic, even though we have recently witnessed a surge in the number of active cases,” he said.
